Sells useless expired software on amazon.com

"Postage Saver" software will not work due to out of date CASS certification files. Seller will not allow return because package has been opened. How could I know this software was not supported by the manufacturer with out trying to use it. Program published in 2007 & support ended in 2008. Can't use it but out of pocket for software that is pure garbage.
