Is it legal for Time Warner to automatically renew a contract without verification from the consumer? I called Time Warner on Dec. 19 to downgrade my service because I just cannot afford their ever increasing prices. The rep told me I had until Jan. 7 to decide if I wanted to cancel or downgrade or accept his ridiculous offer to receive more services. I told him that I would talk to my wife and call back. I called back on Jan. 3 and was told that my contract was automatically renewed on Dec. 25 because I did not respond to the renewal letter that I never received. So now I'm stuck paying another 24 months of this ridiculous price gouging for their really overrated services with the worst customer service department I have ever dealt with.
