Dr. Bill Smith, Richard Smith, others I'm sure... Craigslist scam

I am a nanny and I desperately needed work, so I was thrilled when I got a great response to my Craigslist ad. It was from one "Dr Joe, " and it read:

Hello, <br style="font-weight: bold;color: rgb (64,64,255);"> <br style="font-weight: bold;color: rgb (64,64,255);">My name is Dr Joe Cater, I need a babysitter for my female twins, I live in London Canada but am coming down to your area in the state for a Four Weeks seminar and am coming down with my set of twins, I lost my wife some months back and i cant leave my babies behind here in Canada. <br style="font-weight: bold;color: rgb (64,64,255);"> <br style="font-weight: bold;color: rgb (64,64,255);">Please get back to me if you are interested in babysitting for my twins.ineed someone that will take care of them as her own baby. I proceeded to ask when he would be staying and where because I had been trying to plan a vacation and wasn't about to accept a job that would be inconvenient. He responded:

Hi Sally,
Thanks for the prompt response, I am glad you are interested in caring for my Kids. I want to assure you that money is notmy problem as i will be making payment arrangement to you prior to my arrival. You will be providing them breakfast, lunch and snacks. The Kids are potty trained and they are free eater. They are not allergy to food or anything. I will be coming along with their car seat. I will be dropping them off in the morning by 8:30am and will come to pick them upby 5:00pm, I want you to get back to me your estimate so as to have youbooked and secured prior to my arrival. I look forward to hearing back from you.

I reminded him I would be out of town for a while in July and asked him again when he would be visiting. I calculated a rough fee that we could discuss. Now, this guy was insisting I watch his kids at my house, which is not possible. I have rambunctious dogs, non-kid-friendly roommates, and a tiny house which at the time was being heavily remodeled. I asked him if I could watch them someplace else, perhaps another client's house or at his hotel. This was his response:
