Deceptive Collections Notice!

Internet & Web

I received a bogus collections notice from:

United Online Collections Division

P.O. Box 5006-bd

Woodland Hills, CA 91365-1700

Phone Toll Free: 1-866-210-1700

I called the phone number and received a recording advising me to mail in my late payment and the collection would then be dropped. Does not allow you to "talk" with anyone.

Needless to say, I never signed up for anything related to "Juno" and found your website, thank heavens so I am reporting this fraudlent company. I received this "bill" on 4-29-10 and my total says I owe $19.90... Guess their prices have gone up! ;-)

It then goes on to state that I have until May 22 to pay in full which will stop all collection activity. Unless you notify this office within 30 days after receving this notice that you dispute the validity of the debt or any portion thereof, this office will assume this debt is valid.

I'm tempted to write them (since you can't get a human on their phone number) and tell them that this is NOT valid and see what kind of reply if any, I receive back.

Also on the bottom of this bogus notice it has by name with @juno.com.

I hope some agency will look into this and catch the crooks who are trying to scam innocent folks.
