3G wont let me cancel, wont handle complaints, just money making and unreasonable

I signed up for mobile broadband with 3G as I needed it for selling at a stall in a shopping centre, after a month I didnt need it anymore but had a contract for many months, it wasnt a very clever decision but I needed it in the short term so I bought it.
I agreed to pay till the end of the contract but told them I wanted to cancel afterwards.

Afterwards I went to Japan as I had planned to stay in Japan for a year, when the contract finished I was still in Japan however they did not cancel my contract, they kept it going. It was very difficult to contact them from Japan, especially when they put me on hold for long periods of time, there was no way I could afford to do that.

My mother tried to handle it instead of me but had no luck, they were not prepared to deal with her at all. The 3G internet service has not been used by me or anyone else in a long long time, yet they are still so unreasonable about it. Only recently I returned to England and was able to cancel the contract but I have to pay for an extra month just to cancel, it is ridiculous.

They rang me in Japan and I told them I wanted to cancel yet they still didnt cancel the contract, it is not acceptable.
I have been told to pay for 2 months and this has been given over to the debt collectors which are demanding me to pay within 2 days so I have to pay, I hope I can dispute this payment afterwards.

I asked to speak to people in charge at 3G, the complaints department, many places but they could not help me or even put me through, most of the time ending with me being on hold for long periods of time which I can not afford. Any help would be much appreciated, I do not have much money, I can not deal with these problems.
