Took $4,995 for investment in microsites, with 110% guarantee return on investment within one year, and was never heard from again

I returned from Iraq with a bum knee that ended up getting me a small settlement from the VA for the time I had to wait for my disability to be approved. I was contacted by phone and offered an opportunity to invest in online microsites. They promised at least 110% return on my investment within one year. I foolishly signed up and sent them $4,995 of my disability settlement.
I waited for the promised monthly checks to roll in, which I hoped would provide added income while I recuperated from knee reconstruction surgery. Nothing happened. I called them once and they said there was a delay in getting the microsites online. It has now been almost 18 months and none of the phone numbers I had work.
I see that I am not alone, but that is not really much comfort. Any assistance in getting my money back would be appreciated, but letting people know to be extremely suspicious of anyone calling them out of the blue might at least provide some positive result from this fiasco.
