Amazon.com
Dishonorable gift certificate ripoff business practices Worldwide

Internet & Web

I was given a $90 gift certificate which I tried twice to redeem. For some unaccountable reason the attempt failed twice. Amazon.com has no phone number for customer service listed on their site and offers no live assistance online. When I found out their number and reported the problem to them they told me that now my gift certificate had expired and that there was no assistance that they could offer me. They also said that they were not able to offer any refund to the original purchaser of the gift certificate.

California has instituted a law protecting the consumer against this huge windfall for Amazon.com but most customers are not protected and the customer service I spoke to - I tried online and in person - are adamant that they will not help.

An online search revealed that many other customers have experienced the same treatment.
