Rebate scam rebate ripoffs

I am another victim of the Office-Max rebate scam.in March I purchased a CD Rom drive which described a $45 rebate. After three months I called the number listed in the Office-Max rebate catalog and was told that they had no record of my submittal. When I complained via e-mail to the Office-Max web page I received an answer from the corporate office with the "check is in the mail." The check number was listed and a web page was shown to "check on the status." The web page is "unavailable." I would think a company the size of Office-Max would be mortified to be associated with such a blatant disregard for their customers.
