Dotlessdomain.com
Violated Do Not Call Regulations, Deceptive claims and sales practices

Internet & Web

Dotlessdomain.com contacted me in March 27. Their call was in violation of the Do Not Call business regulations as my business number is registered.in theory I would never had been taken in if they were in compliance with the DNC regulations.

Nonetheless, I listened to their pitch as their call coincided with an anticipated change I was making in my business. We wished to expand our business to an Internet approach and using search engine optimization seemed like a good idea.

The slick sales people took me through a demo which is rigged to show your site on THEIR search engine add on. During the course of the demo they took me to the site that had the web browser add-on that ostensibly was being used by 30 MILLION PLUS consumers. This site was webmenu.com. I was told to look at the Better business ranking and found it to be A. This deceptively got me to think that THEY (dotlessdomain) were highly ranked by the BBB. (After I realized that I had been scammed I checked the dotlessdomain BBB ranking and it was an F).

I was talked into buying three search terms and was given a deal and they took me for $2985 using very slick and pushy sales tactics. (I paid via an AMEX CC) They indicated that they would have my site up in 3 days and that I'd be seeing 10,000 hits on each of search terms over a six month period. This sounded too good to be true and it was. I got a few calls from them over the next few days and then had to sign for a mini CD that contained the contract info along with an upgrade to the WebMenu toolbar. This struck me as strange and overkill on the transaction and prompted me to do a web search on dotlessdomain. I knew I had been had when the top listing on Google was dotlessdomain SCAM. I immediately contacted AMEX to get them involved and gave them the same info provided above.

I have seen NO uptick in hits on my Website-their bogus methodology shows that my search terms came up over 1000 times for each term I purchased-I've not seen NOT a SINGLE hit that is attributable to them and my site visitations are the same as they were prior to the start of their "program".

Further the WebMenu upgrade that they sent on the mini CD infected my computer with malware (Tojans and Keyloggers) so I am very concerned relative to ID theft etc. I had to purchase third party software to rid my two computers of their infection. The webmenu toolbar is apparently well known as a browser highjacker

AMEX just informed me that I am out of luck and will even have to pay interest charges on the $2985 in dispute. I just filed a complaint with the BBB and the FTC and plan to contact the FCC.

I want my funds returned and these people put out of business permanently.
