Live Search Cashback Program - You have to fight for your money

I participated in the Microsoft Live Search Cashback program last year. This is the program where if you used Live Search, Microsoft would offer you various discounts for purchases thru selected vendors. The program promised to give you the cash back in 60 days.

Microsoft totally mismanaged this program. The majority of my cash back did not arrive in 60 days. I had to repeatedly contact them and wait a week or more for a response each time. It was only when I told them I would contact the Attorney General's Office that they seemed to respond quickly. They tried to blame the problem on PayPal but later admitted it was their issue.

After months of trying, I finally got back everything but one $21 payment. They went back and forth on the issue for over a month before stating I did not honor the terms and they would not pay me. There was an issue where the original transaction had to be refunded (due to a damaged item) and payment resent (when a replacement was located) and I provided them all the information verifying the purchase had been paid for.

It was PayPal who stood up for me and gave me my money. They did not want me to be unhappy and verified that I had paid for the item. Microsoft is still claiming that PayPal is the one denying me the money.

If you also participated in the program, I would caution you to check and make sure that you received all the money you were promised.
