Craigslist Job Posting
Author Solutions Inc, Acument Global Technologies Cashier Check Fraud Texarkana Texas

Internet & Web

I guess is the newest front to the Acument Global Technology fraudulent check scam. This Craigslist job posting was titled "Need Laborer For Immediate Work". It then requires you to send a resume to an email address, then after a day a reply comes back telling you that you are perfect for the job. Then goes into how they are flying in from out of town and want a house, or business cleaned for their arrival and it's a one time payment of $1500 in your behalf.

I started to catch on as I noticed that there was never an address given through the emails, and never once received a phone call about the job. As the days went on, this man, Timmothy Simmons, was in need of me to pay the painters so they could start work. The amount I was supposed to give them was $2500. Then he went on to say that he would pay me up front for my services and have me give the money to the painters so they could start. Then I received an email that the check was on its way through UPS next day air. Along with that email, it came with instructions to send the money via western union to a Amy Bryant in Georgia. Which threw up another flag since the work is in Texas.

Very wary of the whole deal from the get go, I finally got the check and immediately took a look at it. It was using a business front of Author Solutions Inc on the check but the package said it came from Acument Global Technologies. I called the bank and the check was indeed a fraud. Acument is aware of the checks and UPS is screening for them, but a few do get through. As this is the second time I have fallen for a scheme, this time I caught it before anything bad could happen.

It's a sad truth that there are people willing to allow others to suffer greatly for their gain, but it is a truth we must face. Be wary of anyone offering money upfront for services, or they offer a cashiers check for payment that is greatly over the price. Anyone who requires a wire transfer of cash, and expects you to do it, is more than likely a scam. I am like anyone looking for a break, and so many people are out to exploit it. Do your research if you think there is something wrong. If you are looking at this you already know.
