Claims to be Social Networking site, Pyramid Scheme Austin

Internet & Web

This company claims to be a social networking site that allows users to keep wish lists of products they want and claims to have the features of other "popular" social networking sites, but is really a pyramid scheme. Verbeux was designed by a car salesman and his partner to pedal unknown, unpublished authors, "instructional" videos, unpublished books on tape and horribly produced, unknown movies. They are running ads on CL claiming to need "sales directors" and "sales people", but really are luring people in to pitch them on the $39.00 sign up fee. The "sales director" must then get other people to join the network and encourage them to sell these products. And so the scheme begins... Each new customer must pay an initial fee of $39.00 and then a monthly maintenance fee to stay an active member with the site. All the while everyone is encouraged to get other people to join and buy things, and so on and so on.

I sat though the interview and listened to some of the garbage they are peddling, only then to be hit with the classic pyramid pitch..."the more people you sign up in your network and the more products they sell, the more residual income you receive." What a joke. First of all, I find it ridiculous that anyone would purchase the products they are selling. Second, why would anyone pay for a site/service that other "popular" sites offer for free?

Don't fall for the pitch or the products... Both are an utter waste of time. The interviewer claimed he was calling me in to see if I could meet their terms of employment and to discuss the first year compensation plan. The interview was held in a satellite car dealership hiring office (No Joke). If anyone approaches you to join, or even worse, asks you to come in to interview, don't do it. It is a total waste of time. Can I have that hour of my life back please?
