Sold my graphic design to his clients and then refused to pay me

Rob Bellenfant, owner of Ad-Site.com is a liar and a cheat. He contracted me to do graphic design for his email marketing company. We outlined the approval process for his clients, and agreed to terms. After just 2 months of working for him, he refused to pay my invoices even though he had been paid by his clients!
I provided great service, fast turnaround time and his sales people and clients were happy with my work. The only problem was him.

Because I live in Canada, and he is in the USA, cheques took about 9 days to get here. After about 2 weeks, I emailed him to ask him where my cheque was he said 'it was in the mail'. Some time later when the cheque still wasn't in my hands, I emailed him again. This time he told me my work wasn't worth what I billed him, and he offered me 60% of what we agreed to. It became clear to me that he had no intention of paying me the agreed price. So, I went onto the server and deleted the files I had supplied him.

Now he says that I've caused great damage to his company, and considers us square. He's even threatened to have his lawyers go after me. All this even though he's recovered the files. (FYI, undelete takes about 10 minutes. Somehow he claims his techies took 3 hours.)
So, this is a warning to all potential contractors to Ad-Site. Rob Bellenfant, owner of Ad-Site.com is a liar and a cheat. He will not pay you your money. He will criticize your designs even after his clients pay for them. He'll call them sub-standard, but never tell you why. And if you do find yourself working for him and find this report, here's a tip. Rounded corners are his soft spot. He thinks they equal good design.
