Makes faulty laptops and refuses to fix their own mistakes

I bought a laptop about 2 years ago and about a year and a half ago I had to start holding the AC wire in a certain position for it to charge. At that time, school had just ended and I stopped using my laptop as often as I did, but I noticed that it became harder and harder to find a position for the cable as time went on.

For a while now it has been literally impossible to use. I searched the internet for solutions and found that this is a fairly common problems on the Satellite M105. I called and explained this to tech support and they told me it'd be $425 to fix (! - we're talking about soldering two wires here).

Although the warranty is one year, I find it ridiculous that Toshiba would design such a faulty mechanism and then refuse to support their product. The computer cost me ~$1200 and only worked well for 6 months. I do acknowledge that I should have gotten warranty work done at the time, but I considered having to position the wire to be a minor inconvenience and I did not think that it would escalate (at the time I assumed it was an issue with the AC adapter, so it wouldn't cost more than $20 if I needed to replace, but I was wrong).

Furthermore, the tech support is garbage. The agent I spoke to, "Michael, " took 45 minutes of my time after putting me on hold over and over again and was completely un-knowledgeable on the subject of computers, Toshiba or business standards.

I filed a report with the better business bureau and Toshiba's response was to call me and tell me the same thing that tech support in the Philapines told me: $400 to fix.
