I received charges without my consent having been given. It was all advertised as free and it was under another name

I was told that I would be given free access, and since there was no request for Social Sec, I did not assume anything bad. Once having had signed up, I was charged 1 dollar without my knowing, then 39.97.
I closed my card down and ended my "free" subscription and hope this might resolve.
