Compusa
A Systemax Company False Advertisement in newly issued catalogue Vol 1 Issue 6B

Internet & Web

Ok first of all, I tried contacting local store to see if they would honor their price as shown in their recent catalogue page 54. It clearly shows 'VisionTek Radeon HD3870 X2 for the price of $114.99' It also shows different variations of similar models, similar pricing and so forth. They will not sell the item to me for that price. They are wanting almost $300 more than the advertized price in the catalogue. Of this I believe this is false advertisement in their published catalogue. This catalogue is freely available in their store as well as mailed out to thousands of households and businesses.in their defense, although not agreed with, there is a little known disclaimer in very small font near the bottom of page 62 that states 'ALL PRICES AND OFFERS SUBJECT TO CHANGE' This is where the store hides behind false advertisement and is allowed to get away with it? Is this fair? Should every price be considered to be $300 off? Am I as a consumer supposed to be drawn to their store for an incredible price, then only to find out that the price has changed or is incredibly different than what they show? Something should be done! Economy is already suffering, lets not compound that issue with bad business practice, deceptive manipulation, and false advertisement.
