Hurley State Bank Gateway computers ripoff deceptive company

I am amazed that I finally have confirmation that I was ripped off by Gateway/Hurley State Bank. As a broke desperate graduate student, I responded to the television advertisement for Gateway in 1999. I thought I'd just try my luck because I figured I wouldn't get approved.

Not only was I approved but a few days or so after receiving my computer, I received a credit card. I was confused and then deeply concerned when I saw an interest rate of over 25%! But I needed a computer so I figured I would keep it. That interest rate later kicked me hard in the backside when I encountered financial difficulty and was late on a payment.

The balance skyrocketed and even though I have finally paid it in full, now Gateway is dragging their heels to report it to the credit bureau even though I paid it off four months ago! They show that the account/balance is active and climbing! This is affecting my ability to pursue business ventures and makes me angry because like other credit vulchers, Gateway/Hurley State Bank preyed on an innocent student.

If anyone else out there has been scammed by them please let me know. Citizens should not be victimized by money hungrey conglomerates who ruin people's credit. I'm currently fighting them now to have them update my credit report. Thanks for the platform to vent!!! Spread the word so other students won't get caught up with this!
