Hughes Internet Dish System
False Advertising!

After reading some of these reports I find I am not alone!
When I contracted the services of HughesNet a few years ago, the contract stipulated that I had various guarantees and I was also required to complete a period of time to receive a $100 offer they had at that time.

When I started, my contract it said I had 100% fulltime access and there was no such thing as FAP (fair access policy). This garbage started several months after I subscribed and I was bound by my contract regardless if they made changes to there options.

After I got Microsoft Vista, Microsoft had to create a ton of updates to keep the operating system working. I also had several anti-virus, anti-spam, and anti-anti's for the anti's to update every day. These downloads were huge at times, like 200Megs or more if that is considered huge? Hughes totaled up all of the activity during a 24 hour period and if I was in access of 200 Megs they shut me down with FAP, slower than your telephone modem.

I was upset with the system and after contacting Hughes Management they refused to change the FAP option and told me to jump to the next faster level with a higher download allotment. I figured since I can't beat them, I will have to join them as my temper boiled, my fists clinched, and my desk received a nasty beating as I ate crow.

I paid more for the service and still got slammed with the FAP. I would not stand for their actions one minute longer had they not backed me into a corner since I had no DSL, Cable, or highspeed internet options in our geographicl area.

Lmciaggan of Missouri is so right! Hughes should be tried for misleading the public. Not only is the FAB unfair, but they advertise to the public stating lies about their services. At no time did my HughesNet reach a speed faster than DSL or Cable. It was slighly above a telehone modem for cost 60 times greater than dial-up.

I would like to see Hughes advertise on TV that they have FAP as part of the service contract and lets see how many people sign up! I wish I had tons of money to spend on TV Advertising because I would go to every major city in the USA and Canada, and shout to the public to be AWARE of the Hidden Disadvantages of subscribing to HugesNet.

In conclusion: Huges is slow, breaks down when it rains or snows, is not what they say it is, and rips off the public.
