Unauthorized charge resulted in insufficient fees from bank

Internet & Web

In Feb, i joined SMC for an opportunity to work from home. I chose the monthly payment option, got my receipt and waited for the packet to be shipped to me.
A couple of days later, my bank notified me that i had insufficient funds in my account. After checking this out, i noticed that SMC charged the total annual fee ($314.95 instead of $39.95). I immediately called them. I could NOT believe that i was on hold for 45 minutes!!! Then when i did get someone and told them what happened, they transferred me to cancellations and then i was transferred AGAIN. Of course i cancelled my membership right then and there but i wanted to be reimbursed for the bank charges that were incurred as a result of their unauthorized charge!

I waited for the refund to come through all the while being negative in my account. It took about 2 weeks or so (by the way, they took off $15 for the package that they shipped to me which i was not aware of!!!) to see it in my account and i counted 5 bank charges.
I must have called a dozen other times with the same hold time and clueless reps. Finally i got someone who told me to fax over the proof of receipt (that says i was charged $39.95 and my bank statement showing those charges). A week later i called back having to go through the whole story again and was told to wait another week for the charges to be credited.
Two weeks go by without any contact so i called today. This woman (Erica) had told me that i was not going to see the money because evidently there were 2 orders made one after another; one for the yearly amount and one for monthly amount and since the yearly went through first, it was not their fault my account went negative!
I told her that if it was true that there was an order for the annual membership, why didn't i get a confirmation like i did for the monthly order? She had no answer other than repeating herself quite rudely i'll add.

I threatened exposure, lawsuit, etc and all she said was "ok."

The bottom line is that after all the aggravation and time i spent on the phone with them, i came out with nothing.

So now i'm stuck with paying all the bank fees for insufficient funds because of THEIR mistake.

Advice to anyone interested in joining this business. DON'T! Their customer service is terrible, their response rate is zero, and an averate call to them requires you to wait at least 45 minutes before you can speak to a live person!
