AT&T Broadband
Warning!"Due Date" may not mean what you think!

Internet & Web

I read my bills so this little trick didn't catch me and I hope I can prevent others from being taken. My latest bill from ATT Broadband has the following notice in the For Your Information section:

Your payment MUST BE RECEIVED before the PAYMENT DUE DATE indicated above to ensure that it is reflected on your next STATEMENT AND to avoid a $3.00 Past Due Administrative Fee.

What a Crock! If they want my money to be there before 10/19/02 (Payment Due Date) then they should put an earlier date in the Payment Due Date field, instead of trying to redefine the word DUE. I pay all my bills electronically and usually schedule them on the due date. The money starts the day in my account and ends the day in their account. To me that meets the G*D D$%*%$D definition of due. I'm considering making sure my payment happens exactly on the due date so I can sue their ass for charging me $3.00 for NOT being late. What BS!
