Wal-Mart Financial Services
Wal-Mart FS Ripoff Bills Late Fees on Due Dates

Business & Finance

I'm a Wal-Mart credit card user for years and have always paid my account either online or in the store and ALWAYS no later than the actual due date if not before. I recently posted my payment in-store and on the due date of 6/21/08. Imagine my outrage when I got home and checked my account online statement the next day and found they'd already posted a late fee on the due date! That means they had to have posted it either that very morning or a day before!

If you're going to give a person a certain number of days to make a payment then give them those days! By their own credit statement on my bill 'Payment is due by 5:00pm on the due date'! My payment was made in-store ON THE DUE DATE at 10:41AM!!! I know that date fell on a weekend but I've paid bills at other businesses and had those payments posted on the weekend; merely being 'officially processed' on the next busienss day BUT I received payment credit on the date paid.

I've written them a heated letter about this and I'm notifying the BBB to look into WFS' billing practices. I've read the fine print on my statement and so far there is NOTHING that indicates I wouldn't get payment credit if the due date falls on a weekend.in today's techno-age nearly everything is automatic and most payments are posted immediately perhaps to be 'finalized' when the check or draft debits the bank on the next processing day. THAT function shouldn't be faulted on the consumer if it is not on a weekend.By WFS' own stated requirements, I paid my bill account properly and within the allowed time!

I plan to pay this card off as quickly as I can and cancel it. I also plan to drop shopping at Wal-Mart. This company has gotten TOO BIG AND TOO CORRUPT for me!
