Deceptive Web Site

On Saturday, Aug 18 I went to the web site and begain placing an order for a $19.00 bottle of car polish. Eventually, after encouraging me to add on several "free" add-on's (for shipping cost only) the web site displayed the total of $49.00. I was horrified! So, I went back and tried it all over without the add-on's. This time the total order was $43.00!! It was then that I noticed... By the time the web site displays the TOTAL order, the actual order has ALREADY been placed! So, I suddenly realized that I had just placed TWO orders for a total of nearly $90.00!!

I immediately tried to telephone them and found that their customer service phone isn't answered after hours. So, I immediately sent them an Email telling them to cancel the order.

I expected to receive an email on Monday confirming things. When I didn't get such an Email, I telephoned then on tuesday morning, Aug 21 and spoke to a customer service girl, "Stepheny". She told me that a $49.00 order had been shipped on Monday and that a second duplicate order had been cancelled. I complained and she agreed to credit back the $11.00 of the "add-on's". I accepted her offer and decided to chalk up $38.00 worth of car polish to a very expensive education in how to NOT EVER deal with Simoniz corporation again.

I have since learned that I could have purchased this product from Amazon for about $8.00.

I fully understand "clever but legal" rip-off marketing. However, a large, well established corporation such as Simoniz should be ashamed of themselves for this rip-off. I have NEVER seen a web site that didn't report to you the full amount of the order BEFORE you had to commit to the order! This is a ture SCAM!
