Ripoff stealing my money as we speak

Ok, i was in the car, heard the commercial on the radio about ispeedway, and decided to try it. I called them, got set up and started the 30 day trial period. I paid $9.99 for shipping costs of the package, and i recieved it pretty much in a timely manner.

Now is where i ran into the problem. My wife and I decided (within the 30 days) that we would not have the time to do this project, and I e-mailed ispeedway and told them that I had changed my mind and didn't want them to start taking the monthly payments of $69.99 out of my account.

Sure enough, after the 30 days was up they started taking the money out of my bank account. My wife called them and told them to stop taking the payments. They told her that it was now our responsibility to pay them $69.99 for 5 months whether we wanted to or not, because when I cancelled I should have called them.

Well, to my knowledge, a phone call and an e-mail are both forms of communication. I have my e-mail with the date on it right in my computer, but yet that just isn't enough for them to stop the withdrawls. I think I have been done wrong, and I feel that I am being robbed each month, which will total $349.95 in 5 months. This is money i can now not afford to lose but have pretty much been told that I have no choice.
