Hoodiastar - Roger VanZant
Identity theft Scottsdale

Internet & Web

My complaint: An individual or individuals from Hoodiastsar.com have taken my identity and have used it to place dozens of requests for items and services that I did not seek. These requests range from inquiring about joining the military (I am 51) to signing me up for music clubs and DVD clubs. So far I have not incurred any costs due to me explaining to the vendors what has happened.

This all started on February 18th when I ordered product from Hoodiastar on the Internet then realized that there ad was not truthful. I emailed their customer service within twenty minutes to let them know I wanted to cancel my order prior to any costs being encured on their part, such as shipping.

After several back and forth emails they quit responding and I assumed it was resolved (I do have the emails saved and to read them would give you some insight as to why they did this). Within two days we were bombarded with phone calls (we were required to give Hoodiastar our phone number in the original order) from various vendors indicating that we had requested their services. I had not made any requests from any other vendors after our emails and dont think I would have requested the military to contact me regarding enlisting.

We received from four to fifteen calls a day for the next week, which has dropped to only several a week as of this complaint and have tracked some when we could get the merchant to provide us information.

Then we started to get items in the mail from CD and DVD clubs saying we had joined their clubs and had to pay for the CD or DVD that came as well as being required to buy more at the normal price. Several of the merchants were able to provide us with the time and date that they got my email address and phone number requesting that they call us.

A strong case can be made that it was Hoodiastar who was doing this because the original batch of calls came from a web site called Coolsavings (given to me by one of the merchants) and that the request was made on Sunday the 18th shortly after my email conversations ended with Hoodiastar.

I have canceled my credit card for fear that it could be used in the future and was given a phone number to contact Hoodiastar. That number has been disconnected but there is an address in Arizona on their website.

Hoodiastar has continued to give my name out after the original date of the 18th and I would like to get this stopped. I can provide a spreadsheet showing the merchants that have provided me with whatever information they have.
