Former employee's horror story

I worked for Newltel for a period of two and a half weeks in October. I was hired on as the network administrator and got to experience the technical side of Mr. Sedlak's ripoff first-hand.

The technology he was hoping to deploy was 1) Not designed for how he intended to use it, and 2) Never tested by Mr. Sedlak before he began advertising and taking orders for this service.

Newltel's DSL service promised high-speed wireless access to almost any residence or business in Hunterdon and surrounding counties (an area that is very rural and has no solid DSL coverage). The technology involved mounting Lucent Technologies 'WaveAccess' wireless panels on cellular phone towers and beaming the signal to similar panels located on the customer's homes. Note: Production and support of this technology was completely discontinued by Lucent shortly after I left the company in October.

The first actual test of this service began after Newltel had already received numerous orders and began billing people for wireless panels and DSL that they did not have.

I left the company due to the fact that it was not the environment I was hoping to be in. It was shoddily run by a coniving, slimebag 'businessman' who lied to his customers and employees. He also used a fair bit of pirated software that I didn't want ANY part of.

My own troubles with the company came when I tried to get my paychecks for the time I spent with them. Phonecalls turned up nothing, so I began a series of certified letters to accurately document my correspondence with the company. I received no replies. Then, I took them to the NJ Labor Board. Mr. Sedlak replied to the labor board stating he had sent me my checks, and even provided photocopies of them. The copied checks were not canceled or signed. BIG SURPRISE! I never got them, how could I sign them? I had to move into litigation and finally, after 6 months of waiting, received the $800 (after taxes) I was owed after the labor board threatened to put a lein on Mr. Sedlak.

After this incident (and before my litigation) I was contacted by a prosecutor for the state of NJ who was looking into numerous complaints against Newltel. I was sorry to hear that so many people got screwed, but was glad that I wasn't alone in this. As of this writing, Newltel's website has since dried up and I'm sure Mr. Sedlak has moved on to new fiendish pursuits. That, or maybe he's fallen into the sewage pit he belongs in.

Mr. Roger Sedlak, if that's even his real name, is an individual who deserves to be locked in a dark cell and have the key thrown away.
