OVERSTOCK.com Bait and Switch Practices Ripoff Internet

I received an email advertisement from Overstock.com for a "Hannah Montana Living the Rock Star Life (DVD)" for $8.00. The email was labeled "Free Shipping" and was dated 12/9/06 at 3:01 am. I was already finished with my Christmas shopping, but thought that at that price, I would get it for my daughter. So, at 11:00am, I clicked on the email link from the advertisement email and was redirected to the Overstock.com website. What I saw at that point was a change in price from $8 to $14, and NO free shipping! I looked back over the original email from Overstock and saw that free shipping was based on purchasing products not exclusively from "Books, Music, Movies & Games", "Auctions" and "Travel" categories. But nothing about requirements for the discount price. That's when I contacted "Live Chat". It says that it would be 3-6 minutes for a customer rep, but to their credit, the rep was on in a few seconds. Although the rep came on quickly (his "name" was Rubin) he would pause for unusually long periods of time before responding. I'm not talking about pausing to research. I'm talking about when he asked "did you receive the email today?" and my response was "yes"... (long pause)... I was told, after cutting and pasting the email, and several more unnecessary delays that "Prices are subject to change as stated in the email". My response was, "not after a few hours, that's bait and switch", and "Will you honor the advertised price or not?". To which he responded, "The site says that the price is $14.00 and quantities are running out. You need to purchase before there are no more. Are there any more questions?"

I will NEVER buy from this company. Luckily, I found out about their marketing practices early. Don't be scammed by this one!
