My daughters Hp invent notebook which was 15 months old would not boot up so I call HP service. After several long phone calls and attempting to fix the problem over the phone they determend that the mother board was bad and the repair cost would be $398.00 which I agreed to.
They sent me a box to ship the note book to them in after recieving the box I had some questions on shipping so I called them back. During my conversation with them the persons I was talking to attempted several times to just sell me a new reconditioned unit for $698.00 and save me the trouble of shipping mine back (I should of caught on Here). He also told me any information on the hard drive would be lost I told him no thanks I had already paid to have mine fixed. He offered to apply that to the cost of the new one I again said no why pay and extra $300.00.
After finding out my information on the hard drive would be lost I took the computer to a local Tech and ask him if he could save my information. He said he could and did so by taking the hard drive out and putting it in another computer and copying it.
I then sent the computer in for the repairs on the day they recieved it I got a call from them stating that there was liquid damaged to it and it needed several new parts and the total cost of repair would be 698.00 not 398.00. Strange the same price as the man wanted to sell me the refurbished unit for 4 days earlier I told them that there was no Liquid damage to the unit and I had a Local Tech that would sign and affidavid to that fact.
I was then told well thats what it cost to have it fixed if you want it repaired by us. I told them to return the computer to me and credit my card with the 398.00 less shipping that I would not pay to have a proplem fixed that did not exsit. They did return my computer with no further comunication 7 days later. I feel like they are ripping people off the numbers just match up.
