Ozzie Montano - Abraham Motors
Did not disclose multiple safety issues with boat trailer ripoff

Purchased a 2002 Boston Whaler Dauntless 160 on EBay (170008038639). The ad states:

2002 boston whaler 16 dauntless - 2002 or about single axle galvanized trailer ez loader - very clean whaler and runs great needs nothing no repairs

Send $1000 deposit through PayPal.informed Mr. Osvaldo Montano, 1520 Bay Drive, Miami Beach Fla 33141 305-710-9432 that we would be traveling 1100 miles to Miami from Maryland to pick up the boat. Mr. Montano is a licensed Auto/Marine Dealer in Florida trading as Abraham Motors, Inc.

Upon reaching Miami, we found the trailer had a broken rear light lens, no tie down straps, lights did not work properly, trailer was equipped with brakes that did not work and the tires had a slow leak. After making repairs, we concluded the transaction. Within moments of the return journey, the boat was moving on the trailer. We stopped at a service station to secure a broken winch hook and inserted a temporary pin missing from the hitch.

On the 295 Richmond VA bypass, the right wheel and drum fell off the trailer. The trailer hit the pavement at 60MPH. Another car spun out of control and was totaled. Progressive Insurance refuses to pay for damage to the trailer which was totaled ($1800) and towing ($200).

Had Mr. Montano been forthcoming regarding the condition of the trailer, prior to our leaving Maryland, we would have made arrangements to have the trailer inspected and serviced by a mechanic. Mr. Montano's blatant disregarded disclosing these problems.

Mr. Montano refuses to participate in mediation stating that he has a signed contract for the boat and trailer in "as is condition" with no warranty.

Mr. Montano's blatant disregard for disclosing safety issues and endangering lives is prompting this complaint. The other car was totaled and the driver suffered personal injury. Had the wheel fallen off a few miles down the road on a more congested 95, the results would have been devastating.

Beware of this person. Do not purchase anything without having the car, boat or trailer fully inspected by a licensed mechanic. He trades under the names of "Ozzie Montano", "Osvaldo Montano", "Abraham Motors", his EBay account is "casadelmar21", his email address is "casadelmar@bellsouth.net".
