Ripoff - continues to collect after proof it is not my debt!

Many years ago I donated a boat and trailer to a local charity, and sent the required DMV paperwork in. However, DMV only transferred the boat and not the trailer out of my name.
Several years later I get a letter from this collection agency demanding payment for storage of the boat trailer. I sent them proof of my donation and transfer, but Norm Rogers just tried to bully me and basically told me "it doesn't matter, just pay the bill."
I've written them several times sending the proof, and they refuse to correct the records. As a result I have to pay more mortgage interest. They don't care about the facts, just want the money.
By the way, I'd be happy to store a boat trailer for thirty days for $1880!
