We purchased a boat from Tom Bawsel/Bawsal on eBay. After payment, Mr. Bawsel immediately took down his ad and closed his eBay account. Then we were having problems obtaining the boat from Mr. Bawsel and contacted eBay buyer protection to intervene on our behalf. It took us a few months to get the boat and when we did it was nothing like it was described. When the transportation service arrived to get the boat, it was sitting out in the middle of a field instead of being inside as it was stated to be. It was obvious the boat had never been stored inside. The interior was torn apart, pieces were missing, it wasn't on a trailer and there was no leg on it. The service had to wait two days (and an extra $500) for the leg to be put on and when the men gave them the boat (Mr. Bawsel was not there) the trailer had four flat tires that had to be pumped up every five hours all the way from Florida to California. The motor was completely different then the motor advertised - it was clear from the pictures in the ad. Wires were hanging inside the boat and the motor would not turn over. Aside from the flat tires, the trailer had no plates or registration. It also was not the trailer advertised, obvious because it had no brakes. No paperwork was included with the boat - title, transfer papers, registration, nothing. Again, eBay Buyer protection intervened and got us a title, but it was not in Mr. Bawsel's name. We are currently getting quotes for what it will take to fix the boat for it to match the description in the ad, but it will cost almost as much as we paid for the boat. EBay Buyer Protection will only cover the engine and none of the other items that were not as described.
