I logged onto creditreport.com to purchase a credit report for myself, and for my husband. The "great deal" they were offering said you could purchase your credit report for $19.95 each, which included reporting from all three credit reporting companies, and a credit score.

The rip-off occurs when the website has pre-selected a button that is very small and you may not see, telling you that you will be charged an additional $9.95 for each credit report if the box is checked specifying your request that the report also include credit scores from all three companies. You do not personally check this box, THE COMPANY CHECKS IT FOR YOU, then hides it in small lettering which is barely noticable.

They also provide a "check this box" if you request monitoring, but do not CLEARLY indicate next to the box that you will be charged an additional $40.00 for this option. The language for charges is buried in a long "terms" paragraph that the website hopes no one will fully read. They trick the customer into these additional charges and make it almost unavoidable to incur these dditional charges.

When I called up to request the charges be reversed, they would not do to. I am sure they deal with calls like this all the time and are very well versed in telling their angry customers that they will just have to deal with the fact they have been cheated out of an additional $60.00 of their hard earned money. Rip off!
