Misleading advertising ripoff

Internet & Web

I ordered the Televizer II from Techoscout on 12/04/01. They assure a "30 day 100% satisfaction guarantee on any products ordered".

After receipt of the order on 12/15/01 I found that the Televizer II does not perform as advertised. The advert claimed that the Televizer could be used in presentations. I purchased it, planning to use it in business presentations in our conference rooms at our offices. The Televizer II has no projection capabilities that can be used in conference rooms. I expected that it will be able to project images onto a screen or wall in the conference room, but found that the product had no projection capabilities. The Televizer only has a set of glasses that must be tied to your forehead in order to see the images projected onto a virtual screen. This is unacceptable in business presentations. This demonstrates the 1st misleading advertisement I encountered. The second misleading advertisement details follow below.

I returned the Televizer via Insured mail on 12/24/01. Tracking information for the Insured mail was as follows: Posted on 12/24 at 13:14 and was delivered to TechoBrands (handles the returned items for Techoscout) on 12/26 at 15:44.

On 01/28 I inquired from Techoscout Customer Services why the dollar amount for the Televizer II had not yet been credited to my account. I was then informed that they had no record of the item being returned. I was asked to provide proof that the item had been returned. I then provided them documented proof of copies from the US Postal Services that the item was delivered on 12/26 at 15:44 and signed for by one of Techobrands representatives. The customer services representative then assured me that they would post the credit to my account.

On 02/25 I inquired again from Techoscout Customer services why the credit had not yet been posted to my account. Again I was asked to provide proof of the item being returned to Techobrands. I again forwarded the same confirmation of delivery to Techobrands that I had already sent one month earlier. Once again I was assured that the credit would be posted to my account.

Another misleading advertisement "30 day 100% customer satisfaction guaranteed by Technoscout". The "100% customer satisfaction" guarantees that you will be refunded the full amount if you are not happy with the purchase and you return the item within 30 days. I returned the item well within the 30 day period and as can be see by my report, they still have not refunded the amount and its more than 2 months after I returned the item. What can one do about companies like Techoscout who use misleading advertisement to get customers???
