Ripoff, Fraudulant bill at old apartment address

I received a call from one of my old roommates in Denver (I now live near DC) who says they received a bill with my name on it charging ~$180 for some sort of internet calls made to the UK recently. I have yet to see the bill, so I only have the company name right now—I'll repost once I obtain a mailing address. This bill is a complete fraud because: a) I haven't lived at that address for a year and a half, b) the phone line is not even in my name there, c) I do not have a landline phone in my current residence, and d) I use a cable modem for internet access. I see that there are quite a few others being faced with these fake bills—this sounds to me like a fishing scheme that hopefully will come back to bite this company in the end.
