Ripoff scam

Internet & Web

I received a fraudulent bill (Invoice #318226) for $30.00 for a phone call to 44-207-335-84 to the UK which was never made. It was described as access to a pay-per-view website.

I contacted Premier Premium Communications to inform them that I never accessed that website and do not owe them any money. I received a letter back from "Tom" (ticket #1575), and then later from "George" (ticket #5014), stating that in order for us to be billed we had to have taken various steps such as accept a download and agree to a disclaimer. I never did any of these things.

These letters are just a standard form. They are exactly the same, and the people who signed them only gave their first names, if those are their real names, and nothing else. These letters could not possibly be considered as official replies to my complaints.

I never installed any software on my computer to dial this call and no one in my household did, either. I later scanned my computer with Ad-Aware and found a Trojan Horse dialer program in my computer which was installed without my knowledge.

This means that I, along with many others, have been the victim of a modem hijacking scheme. I ask that the company provide the appropriate credit, and remove my name and number from their database so that nothing like this happens again. If not, I will be forced to refer this complaint to the attorney general's office in Texas and New Hampshire, as well as the FBI Internet Fraud Complaint Center, the FTC Bureau of Consumer Protection, and the US Postal Inspection Service.
