I called the Walmart Vision Center in Eufaula, Al. And after talking with the staff member who answered the phone (finally—it took multiple calls) and explaining that my mother had a fall, and needed to be checked to make sure there was no medical problems arising from this, she assured me they could handle the situation. As Mom was an existing patient, and the staff member asked for her DOB, and pulled her records, I knew she was familiar with her insurance. Upon arriving, and after an approximate 20 minute wait, the staff member comes to us and tells us it will cost over $100.00 to be seen as mom has already used her Alacaid visit for glasses. Mom has Medicare and Medicaid as her secondary, and this was a medical problem. She should have been seen, or we should have been told they could not accept her insurance when I made the appointment. If the staff isn't educated enough to handle patients, or reliable enough to answer the phone without patients having to make multiple calls, they should be replaced.
