Monthly charges continued because cancellation required a call

I joined Weight Watchers over a year ago. I only went to one meeting as I needed to determine if the WW plan would correlate with my dietary requirements and I determined that it would not. I knew I was going to have to pay for the whole month, however, no one told me that I had to call to cancel or I would continue to have monthly charges of $39.95 assessed.
Over $500 later I have noted these charges on my credit card. Yes, I am a fool for not having noticed earlier. I have to go online to see these charges and I have not taken the time as I have trusted that there has been no abuse. WRONG! Weight Watchers is the abuses in their hidden policies. This in my opinion is consumer abuse. Shame on you Weight Watchers.
