Workout World
WOW Workout World, "WOW"- Scam artists, Liars, Terrible staff, management & disgusting facility

Health & Medicine

I joined Workout World in April of under false pretenses by a female employee who, I was told a few weeks later was fired just after signing me up.in order to join, you need to give a credit card number, which they claim is only for billing purposes. I gave this employee the credit card information she asked for and told her that it was not an active card and under no circumstances could they use this to bill me with. Well, that was a lie.

Upon signing the gym agreement, she told me that my contract was in effect from that point (April) until April. That was lie number 2. I found out a few weeks ago that, in fact my membership was on a month to month basis and I could have cancelled my membership at any point. A few weeks after joining, I was spending about three weeks on a semi vacation, 3000 miles from home when I started getting phone calls from ABC Financial saying that I owed them my membership fees for the month and an additional thirty dollars as a late fee. This was because they were trying to charge the card that I told them they could not (and told me they would not) use. I was told I could pay each month at the club itself. So, I called the gym and asked to speak with the female employee wh had signed me up. Well, she had gotten fired right after she had signed me up and none of the staff had any idea or way of helping me and couldn't (didn't want to) figure out how to remedy the issue - removing the late fee, as I was supposed to pay my dues at the club and not using information that they said they wouldn't.

After all of this, when I got back home, there was a new manager. I went to the club, explained my situation and that I believe I should have been credited for the thirty dollars, as I was 3000 miles away and there was no way for me to come in. His response was - theres nothing I can do about it, and now you owe one hundred and twenty dollars.

A few months later I noticed on my bank statements that they had been overcharging me by a dollar each month. I went to the club looking for the third manager that had been there since I had joined, to find out that there was a new manager (they go through a new manager every one to three months). This manager, Phil, told me that this was a multi access fee, a fee that allows you to visit other gyms in the area. I told him that I had only visited that location, had not used it, did not want it and wanted to be credited the ten dollars total for the ten months that they had been overcharging me. He assured me several times each time I visited the gym that it was taken care of and I would not be charged the next month to make up for it. Well, I just looked at my bank statement and they charged me again.

I advise anyone looking into this facility to stay away. These people are scam artists only looking to rip you off. The gym itself is in terrible condition, run down and absolutely filthy. There is no customer service. You would be hard pressed to even find an employee - ninety percent of the time there is no one at the front desk, usually they are hanging arounbd chit chatting in an office, texting, or on Facebook.

Buyer Beware.
