MANY tricks attempted by this sleazeball operation

Health & Medicine

I found this company via NexTag, looking for a particular vitamin. This company supposedly sold it about 80% cheaper than most others.

First, the price advertised on NexTag, $2, was good for only one bottle, but NOWHERE does it say that. They just give you a higher total in your shopping cart ($5 more PER BOTTLE, in fact). This might well not be detected especially if you're buying multiple items.
SECOND, at checkout you have to check a box saying you'd read the Terms and Conditions. Well, one of the terms is, you agree to have your credit card charged about $20 a month in perpetuity, unless you cancel within seven days. But if you call the number given in the Terms to cancel, it is impossible to get through. No matter what option you press, you get a recording saying "That option is invalid." LUCKILY I wrote down the number they show ONLY at time of checkout, 1-866-529-3413. I did call that number a couple of days later and now I at least have an email confirming cancellation - I just have to hope they actually do it.

THIRD, another of the "Terms" essentially says you cannothold them legally liable for ANYTHING.

FOURTH, after you do check out, you're taken to a page and asked to take a consumer survey via which they collect a lot of personally identifiable info about you, presumably to sell on mailing lists. If you choose not to take the survey, and try to X out of the web page instead, you're blocked by a pop-up box saying that if you exit that page, you will not get a confirmation of your transaction. May I summarize? You can buy as little as one bottle of vitamins, spending less than $2. But if you either don't read the terms or try to call the number they give you for cancelling, YOUR CREDIT CARD WILL BE CHARGED $20/mo FOREVER. And you've also agreed to sign away your legal rights in the matter. Sure, somehow down the line you'll be able to correct the situation. But probably not until after MONTHS of hassle. Credit cards are supposed to be on your side in cases like this, relieving you of the charges. But if you've agreed to the contract, and you have, a credit card like B of A will not do anything to help you. It happened to a friend of mine, this is not conjecture.
