I received a letter from Montrose Akron (Credit Re-Establishment after Bankruptcy) The letter stated fair and reasonable financing is guaranteed by many lending institutions due to the consumer usury codes enacted by the General Assembly. I responded to this letter and spoke to Dave the finance manager and I asked him is the financing base on credit score and he told me that they do not go off credit score only your ability to make monthly payment. I never gave permission to Dave to run a credit report I only gave him our income information. We were quite surprised that they did not go off the credit score. Dave told us that together we had more than enough income to meet the payments but did not tell us what vehices this payment was to meet. He wanted that we come in so I came to the dealership today 11-19 but Dave was not there. I dealt with his assistant. When I introduced myself he ask me did I resolve my issue with First Merit. I was taken by surprise because I never gave permission to run a credit report especially since they did not go on credit score just income. Then after I showed him my income documents he told me that I did not qualify for the low as$0 down, I needed to have at least $2000.00 down but did not tell me the cost of the vehicle or in fact not any information about a vehicle just that I needed $2000.00. I ask him is he basing this on my income alone he said yes. I told him that it was understood that both incomes are being used. He then told me that he did not have a lender for me that I had to wait until they could find one. I ask him why did we not qualify he said we did qualify as long as we had $2000.00 down no matter what our income was and he said that he checked his list of lenders. I told him that I felt this was credit discrimination and he then wanted me to leave his office. So I left and told him that this seem to be a bait and switch situation and I would complain about his tactics. Since I did not show ID how would my credit information be made available without my consent to run a credit report? Regardless if my income was alone or jointly, Why was a credit report run without my permission, and since this program was about qualifying buyers without credit score, why was my income needing $2000.00 down without identifying a vehicle?
