ID and cigarettes

I am 62 years old. Usually I was buying cigarets in CVS. Since I have to show my ID or say my full birthsday I am not going to use this store for anything to buy. I think this is invasing in my pravacy by the store employee. They have no right to ask me this question. The new Policy is silly and unamerican, Sincerely Elzbieta Dziopko
