Health & Medicine

DO NOT order "free" acai trial from www.pureacaiburn.com. They send a 30-day supply for $5.95 s&h and "enroll" you in a "membership." The terms & conditions are on a link. I read them thoroughly. They state that if you cancel by calling their customer service line within 14 days of placing your order no other charges will be made to your credit card. I ordered and got a fraud detector alert from my credit card regarding the s&h, notifying me that the $5.95 charge was originating in Singapore. That made me nervous but could do nothing more at that point. Before 14 days expired, I called the customer service line at the number in the "terms and conditions, " which I cross-referenced to the Town of Strathmore in Alberta, Canada. I held for a very long time and finally hung up, called back and left a message stating my order number, that I was cancelling and that any additional charges to my card would be disputed. I followed with an email to the email address specified in the terms and conditions stating the substance of my message and reiterating that I was canceling and that any further charges would be disputed. Two days later I got a fraud detection call from my bank. I had been charged $127.86 for my "membership, " again originating in Singapore. I explained the situation, my bank declined the charges and informed me that I would get a call from their investigation department regarding the charge. I again emailed Acai Pure and informed them that the charge would be declined by my bank, that I had cancelled per THEIR terms and that the matter had been referred to my bank's fraud investigation department. The next evening I got an email from a different email address stating that the "membership" charge had been declined, demanding that I provide a new credit card number, stating that the free 30-day supply was only for "members" and that I should email back to find out "return instructions" for their "free gift that is exclusively for our members only." (This was NOT stated in the terms and conditions.) The email also stated the last 4 digits of my card, the expiration date and my security code. I replied, attaching copies of my cancellation email and email stating that the charges would be disputed, and again directed them to refrain from charing my card or that charge would be declined. Although I have not been charged (due to excellent fraud detection service through Chase Bank), others certainly could be charged. I felt that the last email where Acai Pure made it a point to show my credit card information was something of a threat and I am considering canceling my card and getting another one with another number, although it is a big hassle. DO NOT do business through this website. They are clearly not legitimate, have no street adress and do not abide by the term of their own agreement.
