Walgreens polocies on self - medicating varies depending on what color jacket you wear to work

Today is eight days after my one year anniversary of getting let go from Walgreens. I am not going to bad mouth my co-workers bc I loved everyone its the people in the top ten %tile that i have beef with. There was a couple things that happened while I was there that I would not wish on anyone.

About three months into my college internship there we aquired a new very unsociable pharmacist who lasted about two weeks bc he got caught going out to his car and taking shots of vodka, and being that he is dispensing drugs that could take a life away very quckly if not taken correctlly or by the wrong person its a big deal. Anyways he was fired needless to say but thats when the 1st prob started. It was the day bf Halloween and I went to a friends visitation which was obviously sad. Well Im not a drinker but did not have to be back till 5pm to take pictures. Well the nextthing I know a taxi is almost in the store where everyone counld see it bc without even asking me thought i was drunk and was going to get adrug alcohol test. Well after the long drive and blowing a. 00 they did noteven apologize and asked me if I learned my lesson which made me furious. When every single employee sees their mgr getting in a taxi, the 3 months of trust and little athority goes right out the door. Needless bc of the pharmicist they were pretty "trigger happy" blowing the whistle but that story was to just lead up to this one.

After about two years now of being there I admittly developed a pain pill dependacy problem which I have no one to blame but myself! I knew I was going to get caught and honestly I was convinced the onlly wayI would stop bc its hard to ask the store manager for time off bc you like pain pills too much working at a pharmacy! Well after I confessed a year later my life is STILL upside down bc of my record and crappy job reference! A week ago I finally landed a job that needed my degree and I thought I had my 2nd chance after a year of not knowing what to do. Well after I interviewed for like 7 hours and they told me I was in and a freind who works there herd and told me I faxed them my background! Well 2 weeks later i hear nothing so my friend does some checking.

Now i find out that they not only found something in my background but they are telling people about it! What gets me is that I worked with a pharmicist who was caught 2 TIMES and he never lost a day of work, clean crimminal record, and what has made me almost loose efverything pharmacist get 2nd and 3rd chances because why??? Are they that much better than a guy like me who made a huge mistake that cost me over 5 thousand in fees, no unemployment, no decent job in future, wanted to go back to school but no loans w / felony charge. I guess till i get one of those white jacketd or make 100k per year i have to live meal by meal.

Sorry for rambling but I kick mself every day for what I did and they get off scott free bc they are "hard to come by." Not to mention the one that got caught handing out controlled perscriptions was making more $ in a week and another one that trained me got fired for sexual harrasement but guess what happened to him in 3 weeks. You got it, a promotion to pharmacy manager at Wal Mart. Im banned from all retail and they get better jobs within the time I get my food stamps now.

Sorry, had to vent after a year of job hunting, getting one and loosing it bc of a stupid stupid mistake. Thanks for reading about how fair life is sometimes!
