The Manager, Rebecca. Broken Product, No Refund or Replacement

I purchased a hair straighter at this store Tuesday night, when I returned home and opened the package I noticed it was not only heavily used but broken in half. I attempted to return the item the following morning and was effectively accused of shop lifting. The Manager there, Rebecca, said that she had spoken to the sales rep that helped me with the purchase and that rep mentioned to her that I had said during our conversation that I owned a similar model previously. The Manager accused me of returning my old straighter to the store and keeping the new one. She made these accusations in front of other customers at the store causing me great embarrassment. She said she could not return the item without calling her Corporate Office and that call would take so long that I might as well just go home and get my old straighter and bring it back to prove I had not switched them in the box. The following day I returned to the store with both my old straighter, which I had to dig out of the garbage and the new broken one along with my receipt of purchasejust as Rebecca requested. After arguing with Rebecca the manager, my fianc and I were further embarrassed when the police arrived to escort us out. We were told they had a no return policy and would not reimburse us nor replace the straighter.

What I most want above even a refund, which I also expect, is a letter of apology from Rebecca for this incident and the embarrassment it caused me.
