Cancels appointments so they can keep charging monthly payments without doing any work

The company I worked for moved to China, so my insurance was cancelled. Since I can't pay for the braces myself, the orthodontist said they would have to remove the braces from my sons teeth, even though treatment was not finished. They are asking me to pay $300 a month for the braces that the insurance did not pay for.
I tried to set up an appointment to have the braces removed, and they told me they were too busy to get me an appointment before two months. The bill for the braces would continue to raise by $300 a month until the braces were removed. I reminded them I did not have a job and needed to get them off right away to keep the bill from rising any more.
This was in December. They made me an appointment for Feb. 16 to get the braces removed. On Feb. 9 I recieved a letter from the dental office stating that they had cancelled my appointment and reschedualled it for April 6. I called because they would be adding $600 more to my bill by waiting another two months and told them not to change my appointment. They said they had tryed to call me last week and since they could not get ahold of me they changed my appoinment without my permission. My telephone has been out of order for over a week because the rain shorted out the old lines, that had to be replaced.
I am going to school to learn a new job and can not take a day off or my unemployment will stop. The appointment on 2-16-09 was good because my son and I both do not have school that day. They are purposely dragging out the appointment date to keep raising my bill.
My husband and I both worked for the same company that went to China, so we are both out of work. It is bad enough that they have refused to finish the dental work since we no longer have insurance. But they refuse to get my son in to have the braces removed so the bill will quit rising.
