They were wrong but still tried to ruin my credit

I already reported these guys, and their rebuttal was "contact the company so we can rectify this." Well, I emailed and called their company, and in both cases got the standard answer, "You must have initialed the line that said we could recharge your credit card." But they were absolutely wrong! I have enough legal background to know better than to initial something as stupid as that. I finally got my credit card company involved (thank you, Capital One) and they disputed the bill.in the meantime, I got hit with another $280 charge. Then, while the whole thing is in dispute (which under state law means that I am protected from any further pursuit on Custom Built's part), I receive a nasty letter from a debt collector, telling me to repay the $280 or else. I finally went ballistic and called the debt collector, telling them that under state law, I had no "debt." I had a disputed charge on my credit card, which is totally something different under the law. The woman admitted to me that indeed, I had not initialed the contract, and that the company was returning the two months' worth of charges they had illegally put on my card. I am very tempted to sue Custom Built for interstate credit card fraud, and since the amount was $560, it would be considered a felony in my state. Perhaps I will get in touch with others on this site who've had similar encounters, and we'll create a class action suit that will put these morons out of business.
