This company is a Joke!

I signed up for Careington Dental Plan a few months ago. They do offer a 45 day trial period. I did cancel after the 45 days. I was not asking them for a full refund of my money but I did expect something. I canceled this account after a few months because: There are no dentists in my area, I made an appointment with a dentist 54.5 miles from my home. The earliest appointment they had was 3 months away. I made and kept the appointment.

When I arrived for my appointment I told them that I had a dental plan and gave them my card. The receptionist called the number on the card and was told that I was not an eligible member. After waiting 3 months for an appointment I was not able to see the dentist (unless I wanted to pay full price). When I arrived home I went to the website and was also told that I was not an eligible member while using my member number so I tired my Social Security number also with no luck. I emailed the company through the link on their site and explained what had happened and told them to cancel my account and to not bill me again. This was in the first week of January.

I noticed on my bank account that I was charged $11.95 again. I again went to the website and left another mail. I also called the 1-800 number. I spoke with a lady who directed me to send an email to the cancellation department because she could not cancel my account herself. I did this as well. I still did not receive a response. I sent another email to the cancellation department.

This time I received a response in the mail, my notice was received after the 45 day trial period so there is no refund due, and that upon performing a zip search in my area they determined that there are participating providers within a 50 mile radius of my zip code. Just because you found someone within 50 miles of my zip code does not mean they are within 50 miles of my home.

What does that matter anyway? If it was 50 miles or 5 miles I still was not able to see the dentist. It was the fact that I was not able to use their service and that I drove over 100 miles round trip for nothing, that upset me. I didn't want a full refund but I did want January to be refunded. They said I asked after Jan 15 to cancel my account so I did not deserve a refund. I wasted my time because of their incompetence.

What is the point of paying for something and receiving no service for it? I was charged $34.95 a month for the first month and then $11.95 a month for about 5 months. This company is a joke! There are no savings, you are not even an eligible member. I am sure someone from their company will post a rebuttal and that is great but have your facts straight. You lost me as a member and caused me to be here by being incompetent. I will tell all I know about my negative experience with this company.
