Praying on the elderly Internet

An agent of Pharmabay contacted my elderly mother and fraudulently told her my parent's prescription health coverage had been cancelled by their carrier. The agent said Pharmabay would be willing to pick them up but only if she would agree to do so right then over the phone. She could barely understand the agent due to his accent and told him so. He kept telling her the only way they could get prescription coverage was for her to say "yes" when he instructed. Being confused, she agreed. She also believed he already had their bank account information but to be "certain" she would have to read it back to him. Unfortunately, she did.

Realizing what she had done when she got off the phone, my parents went to the bank. No money had been taken from their account yet. The bank representative they spoke to was already aware of the scam PharmaBay is pulling on the elderly. My father didn't believe they would have to change their bank account since the bank was aware of the scam. However the reprenstative said unless they did they would be required to pay PharmaBay because they had my mother on tape giving the number.

Warn everyone about this and other companies practicing business this way.
