Kimkins
Kimmer, Heidi K. Diaz Pro-Ana, Anorexia Diet!

Health & Medicine

I have always had trouble losing weight. I will lose a few pounds here and there, and I do not have a problem maintaining that loss. However, I still have quite a few pounds to lose. When I heard about Kimkins in January I was ecstatic. The diet was promoted for fast, safe, permanent weight loss. The diet's founder was a beautiful woman who said she had lost 198 pounds in 11 months and kept the weight off. I struggled for a week or so, since I have never paid for a diet before, then decided to pay the lifetime membership fee of $39.95. (The cost has since been raised to $59.95.)

I began the diet, which was easy and utterly boring. And the weight did fly off. For a price - this was a deal with the devil. I was sick all the time. I could no longer exercise. (My prior exercise routine was only a 1 hour daily walk.) My appetite did go away which meant the prescribed low calories were easy to achieve. I was literally starving myself, eating between 400 and 600 calories a day. I became terrified of eating, which is an issue that I still struggle with.

Now it has been discovered that the diet's founder lied about everything. She has no nutritional expertise, and some of the diet "gems" that convinced me everything was fine have been proved to be false. She never produced any documentation or studies, but she states everything with such conviction that I believed her. She never lost the weight that she claimed to have lost in the time period that she cited. Published photos from a private investigator and her civil suit deposition show that she is now morbidly obese. The "beautiful woman" is an illusion.

The majority of the success story photos on the site, as well as several photos that the owner (Heidi K. Diaz, aka Kimmer) has claimed to be her, were harvested from mail-order bride websites.

As a result of this diet, I am now in extremely poor health. My previously thick hair is now visibly thin. I am still unable to exercise without suffering from heart palpitations. I have almost regained all the weight I lost, despite transitioning to a healthy low carb diet, because I am so malnourished that my body is still hanging on to every morsel. My weight and size also fluctuate wildly despite very little change in daily eating habits.

As I mentioned previously, I am terrified of eating, and could probably now be diagnosed with an eating disorder. My skin is dull, my eyesight has worsened - I could certainly go on. This is not a diet; this is an unscrupulous woman telling the consumer public that anorexia and bulimia (yes, she advises daily laxative use also) are ok, and charging for this advice. Do not be fooled!
