Deceptive employment practices Ripped off by employe

I was a employee of the GNC store in Mt Vernon, Illinois for 10 months. These were 10 miserable, yet very informative months. I would never again work for this company nor would I shop in their stores.in addition I would never encourage any of my family or friends to do so either. The manager I worked for was not only totally dishonest in her words and deeds but also had employees working off the clock for no pay. She had us doing bank deposits every night (which should have been her management duties, as we were not bonded to be carrying such cash to the bank after hours). She also did not pay us to do this, we were off the clock, yet expected to leave home ten minutes early before and after work each day and pick up and delivery the deposits. I was hired by her and told it would be a month before I received my first check and that it would only be for a weeks pay, which I assumed meant they would be holding back two weeks pay, which I would get back when I left the company. Yet when I did leave, according to them, my start date was two weeks later than the true date, so they felt they owed me nothing.

I was later told I was laid off because I took a second job, then I was told I was fired for being 10 minutes late, then the manager tried to get me to sign a quit form to which I said "no", then a fired form to which I said "no" and later claimed in a hearing for unemployment that she did this to help me. She did in the hopes of escaping any accountablity for the company having to pay out a unemployment claim, which they didn't have to anyway.in addition she had sold me numerous vitamins and herb supplements and my neck started breaking out in bumps. This company needs to not only change their business practices, they also need to hire someone that is educated in the areas of businss, employment laws and vitamin and herb interactions. I am disgusted with the business practices allowed in America today. It is appalling.
