Day's Jewelers
Tim Olson Sexual harassment by store manager and fired because of complaint made to home office

Miscellaneous

I was an employee at Day's Jewelers for 2 years and was very recently let go because I was sexually harassed by the store manager and made a complaint to home office. This company does not have the best interest for their employees and does a poor job with customer service in general.

When I started with the company I loved the job, but when they hired a new president (David Harris) and he brought in his college friend to become the new store manager in the Manchester location everything began to change for the worse.
Tim Olson became the new store manager and sexually harassed me for months before I was able to confront him. Even after I confronted him I still felt uncomfortable in the work environment. I called home office and talked to HR and I was told there was nothing they could do and to wait it out. The assistant manager told me to drop it and didn't understand why I had a problem with Tim Olson.

Tim Olson is a disgusting, sleazy, drunk, pimpled face old man who says the most rude and disrespectful things to everyone. He would talk about the customers behind their backs, as well as the employees.

I believe Tim was also stealing from the company. When he started working loose diamonds, gold chains, etc started going missing. He was ripping the company off with repairs as well, never charging enough or over charging and turning the customers off from wanting to get their jewelry fixed. He even told us when he first started that at his last company he was accused of stealing.

The only reason Tim Olson got hired was because he was old friends with David Harris, the president of the company. When I tried talking to David Harris about Tim's behavior he told me that "Tim is an acquired taste, you just have to get use to him." A young girl should NOT have to get use to some old drunk manager telling her he could make her come with one finger, and that she looked hot and sexy.

When I was let go, I was told by the assistant manager that they would do everything they could to help me out, that they would give me unemployment and good recommendations. It has been almost a month and a half and I just now have seen my first unemployment check because the company did everything they could to keep me from getting unemployment.
As far as I'm concerned the company has gone to shit since David Harris became president. It is not ethical to fire someone because they were sexually harassed. Also, there were rumors going around that the head of the company has sexual lawsuits against him as well.

This company is run ass backwards. The assistant manager of the Manchester location is the son of the owners, and in any other circumstance he would not have gotten where he was today if he wasn't the spoiled son of stuck up rich people who are stingy with their money.

They pay their employees crap and hardly ever give raises. There is no work ethic. People who work there show up 10-15 minutes late to work every shift and never get spoken to. The Jeweler does crap work and tries to find the cheapest way possible to do work.

Please do not do business with this company, they are awful to their employees and don't deserve business as long as David Harris is president.
